In a proactive effort to uplift the informal retail sector and create opportunities for growth, the Indian Business Forum (IBF) conducted a crucial meeting with petty traders on October 5th, 2016. The meeting aimed to provide a comprehensive briefing to the petty traders on the importance of formalizing their business operations and the benefits that come with it.
The informal retail sector plays a vital role in Uganda’s economy, with petty traders contributing significantly to local trade and livelihoods. However, many petty traders operate informally, which can limit their access to certain resources and opportunities. The IBF recognized the potential for growth and development in this sector and sought to empower petty traders with the knowledge and tools to formalize their businesses.
