The Indian Business Forum is an arm under the umbrella of the Indian Association Uganda which focuses on strengthening business perspective for Indians and persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) in Uganda to deliberate on issues that enhance business development and also build business networks that command impressive results.
Indian Business Forum Uganda (IBF Uganda) recently held a crucial meeting with Mr. Ahmed Seif Elnasr, the Commercial Counsellor of the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt, aiming to address shipment clearance challenges under the COMESA agreement. COMESA facilitates trade among member states but faces bureaucratic hurdles causing delays.
To resolve these issues, IBF Uganda and Mr. Elnasr agreed to work collectively, involving relevant stakeholders. Cooperation with Uganda’s Ministry of Trade & Industry and Ministry of Finance will gain insights for trade-friendly regulations. The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) will also play a pivotal role in streamlining trade processes.
The May 26th, 2023 meeting demonstrated IBF Uganda’s and Mr. Elnasr’s commitment to fostering stronger Egypt-Uganda trade ties within COMESA. By implementing effective solutions, they aim to unlock new opportunities for growth and development in both nations. Overall, this marks a transformative change in the regional trade landscape.
